Blessed Good Friday and glorious Resurrection Day to you and to your family.
This is Episode #383 and it's entitled, "Sinless Savior into a Sinful World." Have you ever paused to truly consider what it means that Jesus, being holy, perfect, and without sin, chose to enter a broken, corrupt, evil, sinful world?
This is not just a historical truth. It is a deeply personal reality that impacts your life today. It is the greatest act of love ever given to you and to me.
William and I went on a trip to a farmland that was really nice. However, when I asked about the bathrooms, I was directed to a nearby porta potty. Now, the thought of going in a porta potty was disgusting to me. I didn't want to even open the door, much less handle business in it. I did step in, but I quickly stepped back out. As we celebrate our risen Lord this month, I could not help but think of our holy, sinless Savior stepping into a sinful, corrupt, evil, dirty world. I didn't want to step into a porta potty, but he left bliss, paradise to step into a cesspool of a world.
What about you? What do you find disgusting that you may want to avoid? Jesus did not avoid coming to this world to save each one of us. Let's take a deeper look at what it truly means that holy, sinless Jesus came into a sinful world and why that changed everything for you and for me.
Now, from the very beginning, Scripture makes one truth clear. Jesus is completely holy. He is not just good, he is not just moral. He is perfect in every way. Yet the world he entered, it was filled with brokenness, rebellion, pain, pride, and every kind of evil sin. I'm talking about a thousand times worse than a porta potty. Well, this contrast is powerful. Jesus stepped out of perfection into imperfection.
He left glory to walk among humanity. He entered a world that would ultimately reject him. Why? Well, because of his love.
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but shall have everlasting life."
Now, not a perfect world, not a deserving world--a sinful world. And that includes your sin and mine.
Why did Jesus come into a sinful world? Well, many people ask if God is holy, why would he come into such a corrupt place? Well, the answer is both simple, but yet it's very profound.
He wanted to redeem that which was lost.
Sin separated all of us from God. No amount of effort, good works, or religious activity could bridge that gap. So Jesus came to do what we could not do for ourselves. As we often emphasize in our teachings here at TWM, transformation is not something we achieve. It is something God does within us through the power of His Holy Spirit.
So Jesus came first of all to restore our relationship with God the Father; then to break the power of sin over our lives; then to give us new life, eternal life; and finally to show us how to live abundantly here and now. One of the most powerful truths in Scripture is that Jesus fully experienced life as we do, and yet he remained without sin. He faced temptation, rejection, betrayal, and suffering. And still he chose obedience.
Now this matters because it means he understands you when you feel overwhelmed, tempted, hurt, betrayed, fearful or discouraged, Jesus is not distant. He relates to you. And yet he also shows us that victory over sin is possible.
Now, Jesus didn't come just to teach or inspire. He came with a mission. First of all, to reveal the heart of God. Before Jesus many viewed God as distant or being unreachable. But Jesus changed that. He showed us God's compassion, God's mercy, and most of all, God's love.
Through his life, we see the true nature of God, that God is personal, relational, and deeply invested in us. Jesus' sacrificial death made it possible for us, through faith, to personally be reunited with God instead of being separated and enemies with God.
And then number two, to conquer sin once and for all. Sin had a grip on humanity that no one could break. But Jesus did. Through his death and resurrection, he paid the penalty for all of our sin, defeated its power, and opened the door for our deliverance from sin. Basically, Jesus set us free; not partially, but completely when we put our trust in his work on the cross for us.
And then number three, to give us abundant life. Jesus didn't just come to save us from something. He came to lead us into something greater. A life of purpose, peace, joy, and freedom with God. Jesus came so you can experience an abundant life. Not someday, but starting now.
Go to the homepage of our website given at the end of this podcast to see how you can have this abundant life now.
What does this mean for you today? It's easy to read about Jesus' life and keep it at a distance. But this truth is meant to transform your daily walk now. You are not too far gone. No matter your past, no matter your mistakes, no matter your struggles, and no matter how deep your sins. Jesus came for you.
He didn't wait for you to clean yourself up. He came into the mess. The fact that Jesus entered a sinful world proves something powerful. You are deeply loved. You are worth pursuing. God didn't just stay distant, he came near.
Understanding that holy sinless Jesus came into a sinful world should lead us to a response. Not guilt, not pressure, but gratitude and surrender.
So first of all, renew your mind. Daily transformation begins with how you think. "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind." is recorded in Romans 12:2.
You can be transformed. When you first of all spend time in God's Word, then apply his truth, and then walk in obedience to His Word. You begin to change; be transformed from the inside out.
Now this happens by developing the mind of Christ through studying and meditating upon His Word. Now, if you're unsure where to begin, go to our website and explore our Bible study resources and courses that are given there.
And then number two, walk in freedom. Jesus didn't just forgive you, he freed you. That means you don't have to live bound by fear, controlled by sin, defined by your past. You are new if you have put your faith and trust in Jesus.
And then number three, share his love with others. Remember, Jesus came into the world for all people. And now we are called to reflect him to others. Sometimes the most powerful testimony is not what you say, but how you live.
And then finally, Jesus knew exactly what kind of world he was entering. He knew the rejection he would face, the suffering he would endure, the cross that awaited him. And still he came. This is the depth of his love for you.
So today, no matter where you are on your journey: if you feel lost, he came for you. If you feel broken, he came for you. If you feel unworthy, he still came for you.
Our holy, sinless Savior stepped into a sinful world so you could step into a transformed life. It is the greatest act of love ever given to you and to me.
Well blessed Good Friday and a glorious Resurrection Day to you and to your family again.
